IKO — это International Kiteboarding Organization, международная организация кайтбординга, основанная в 2001 году. Instructors at those schools are trained and follow a single IKO method and set of safety standards. So IKO isn't an equipment brand or a club — it's an industry training standard: a common "language" spoken by kite schools and instructors across dozens of countries.

Путь от первого касания кайта до самостоятельного катания IKO делит на три уровня. Каждый следующий опирается на предыдущий.IKO structures training as a progressive path — from your first touch of the kite to independent riding. The path is split into three levels, and each one builds on the previous.

### Уровень 1 — Discovery (на земле)### Level 1 — Discovery (on land)

Всё начинается на берегу. Здесь вы осваиваете базу безопасности: учитесь оценивать спот по принципу SEA (Spot/Environment/Activity — спот, окружающая среда, активность), управлять кайтом на земле, разбираетесь в системах безопасности (квик-релиз, депауэр — сброс тяги), отрабатываете запуск и посадку кайта.It all starts on the beach. At this level you build the safety basics: assessing the spot using the SEA principle (Spot/Environment/Activity), controlling the kite on land, understanding the safety systems (quick-release, depower), and practising launching and landing the kite.

Итог уровня 1: вы безопасно управляете кайтом на земле, понимаете «ветровое окно» и системы сброса — но ещё не самостоятельный райдер на воде.Result of Level 1: you safely control the kite on land and understand the "wind window" and release systems — but you're not yet an independent rider on the water.

### Уровень 2 — Intermediate (на воде)### Level 2 — Intermediate (on the water)

Теперь выходим на воду. Вы учитесь заходить в воду и выходить из неё, перезапускать кайт прямо с воды, осваиваете бодидраг (движение в воде за тягой кайта без доски) — в том числе против ветра и с доской в руке. Сюда же входят азы самоспасения, правила расхождения на воде (ROW — right of way), водный старт и первые проезды.Now we go on the water. Here you learn to enter and exit the water, relaunch the kite from the water, and master body dragging (moving through the water on the kite's pull without the board) — including upwind and with the board in hand. This level also covers the basics of self-rescue, the right-of-way rules (ROW), the water start and your first rides.

Итог уровня 2: вы встаёте на доску и проезжаете короткие отрезки в обе стороны.Result of Level 2: you get up on the board and ride short stretches in both directions.

### Уровень 3 — Independent (самостоятельный райдер)### Level 3 — Independent (self-sufficient rider)

Финальный уровень — про самостоятельность. Вы осваиваете контролируемое катание, езду против ветра (апвинд, «зарезку»), развороты, самозапуск кайта и полное самоспасение, учитесь оценивать риски на споте.The final level is about real independence. You master controlled riding, going upwind, turns, self-launching the kite and full self-rescue, and you learn to assess risks on the spot.

Итог уровня 3: вы самостоятельный кайтбордер на типовом споте — катаетесь без подстраховки инструктора, уходите против ветра и возвращаетесь в точку старта.Result of Level 3: you're an independent kiteboarder on a typical spot — you can ride without the instructor's backup, head upwind and return to your starting point.

После занятий школа сертифицирует вас на достигнутый уровень и выдаёт IKO-сертификат — его часто называют картой кайтбордера или «паспортом кайтбордера». Сегодня это обычно цифровая карточка (vCard) в приложении или онлайн-профиле: ваше имя, ваш IKO ID и достигнутый уровень.After your lessons, the school certifies you at the level you reached and issues an IKO certificate — often called a kiteboarder card or "kiteboarder passport." Today it's usually a digital card (vCard) in an app or online profile. It shows your name, your IKO ID and the level you achieved.

Отвечаем честно: юридически IKO-карта — не государственная лицензия. Это документированная запись ваших навыков и сертификация достигнутого уровня. Никакой госорган её не выдаёт и не требует.The honest answer: legally, the IKO card is not a government licence. It's a documented record of your skills and a certification of the level you reached. No state body issues it or requires it.

Но есть нюанс, который делает карту по-настоящему полезной. Многие школы и прокаты по миру требуют карту IKO (или эквивалент), чтобы выдать снаряжение в аренду или допустить к самостоятельному катанию. Формально это не лицензия, а по факту — международно признанный допуск: показали карту с уровнем Independent — и вам спокойно дают кайт без лишних вопросов.But there's a nuance that makes it genuinely useful. In practice, many schools and rental centres around the world require an IKO card (or an equivalent) to rent you gear or let you ride independently. So formally it's not a licence, but in reality it works as an internationally recognised "clearance": show a card with the Independent level and they'll hand you a kite without extra questions.
